DAY 01 - Arrival to Costa Rica
- Arrival to Juan Santamaría International / San Jose Airport. Meet and greet by CRT Team once clients individually clear official entry procedures they exit the terminal building, where our bilingual tour guide will assist participants with the transfer to hotel and luggage handling.
DAY 02 - San Jose (B / L)
Breakfast at hotel followed by a full visit to very interesting attractions.
Coffee tour/ Poás Volcano National Park & The Paz Waterfalls Gardens: the tour is an intense fun filled set of excursions where you will embark on three distinct adventures.
As we ascend the terrain and near the Poás Volcano we will notice a change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful array of colors and textures.
On the way to the volcano we will visit the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast. Then we will be treated to a coffee tour in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica and around the world. The careful process involved in the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean will then be illustrated, very hands-on, and then we will savor the delectable end product.
After the coffee tour we will continue to the Poás Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this unique and protected national park.
Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to the La Paz Water Fall Garden for a scrumptious lunch and tour. As we arrive to La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit; to be enjoyed by those of all ages.
- Reaching Tortuguero involves traveling by boat and therefore luggage is restricted to a maximum allotment of 25 pounds (12 Kg) per person.
- CRT will store and safely keep remaining luggage pieces that will be deliver to participants upon their return from Tortuguero.
DAY 03 - Tortuguero (B-L-D)
6:00 a.m. Ground transfer to the dock with breakfast en-route. On arrival you will board a boat, which will take guests through canals to the Tortuguero National Park (approx. 3 hours).On the way you may observe different flora, fauna and wildlife.
You will be at your leisure in the afternoon to experience the local culture and habitat, visit some of the area's wonderful natural attractions, walk the nature trails or just relax in a hammock.
DAY 04 - Tortuguero (B-L-D)
In order to take advantage of the early morning wildlife activity, guests are invited to participate on the schedule guided boat tour through the many Tortuguero Canals (optional early morning tour not included on the cost of the package)
Tortuguero National Park is situated on the Northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. The park covers 18,947 hectares and protects the most important nesting grounds in the Western Caribbean for the Green turtle (Chelonia midas) Traveling very long ocean voyages since the time they are born, the chemical imprint, received at the time of birth, becomes their place of birth and exact coordinates of this species to return to the same location, when reaching sexual maturity after a life odyssey to nest and laid their eggs, to perform the ritual of life from their previous generation at the beaches of Tortuguero National Park
Costa Rica is well famous for its conservation efforts, due to the fact that five of the eight species of sea turtles known today come to this unique place to nest and preserve their next generation of their specie. The nesting season is stretching between, late June to September/October. Tortuguero National Park unique eco system of this rare pluvial, lowland rainforest, that is also well known as the home to a wealth of wildlife – 300 species of birds are endemic to this Central American forest, among then, two species of toucans, herons, hummingbirds and the unique and priceless Green Macaw (Ara ambigua) among the very rare and are protected residents of this Costa Rican Forest National Park and ecosystem, that are home to many other species of plants , fish, reptiles and mammals unique to this area.
Wildlife will expose itself to you, onboard the long dugout and pangas (river boats) that will transport you on a tour lead by our certified naturalist local guide, that will explain the many inner relationships of species resident to this unique and pristine pluvial Tortuguero Rain Forest, where at the shores of the many canals and lagoons, are easily spotted three (3) species of new world monkeys resident to this particularly rich and diverse tropical rain forest, with unique weather conditions.
Rest of the day to enjoy programmed activities included on the Tortuguero jungle lodge.
DAY 05 - Tortuguero to Sarapiquí (B-L)
Morning breakfast followed by boat transfer through one of Tortuguero many tributary rivers in order to continue on ground transportation to Guápiles for lunch. Your CRT representative will be waiting with your luggage to provide the ground transfer/tour to Sarapiquí.
DAY 06 - Sarapiquí - Arenal Area (B)

The Chocolate Tour: Discover the wonders behind one of the world’s most tantalizing foods — chocolate! The cacao tree originated in Mesoamerica and has a rich and extraordinary history, being one of the most important products for Mayan and Aztec civilizations, as well as other Central American cultures. The discovery of the Americas led European explorers to introduce chocolate to Europe, which transformed it into the delicious product known today. In this activity you will discover the marvels of one of the favourite foods of humankind - chocolate. The tour includes a guided hike across the Tirimbina suspension bridge to a cacao plantation, as well as to a forested section where you will observe forest species of cacao and how the product originally developed there. During the hike, the natural and cultural history of the cacao tree is explained. Onsite, you will learn about the process by which cacao is processed into chocolate (harvesting, fermentation, drying, milling). There also you may taste different types of chocolate, made from organic chocolate grown by the Association of Amazilla Women of the Caribbean, a group of rural women from Pueblo Nuevo de Guácimo dedicated to the production of organic chocolate.
DAY 07 - Fortuna & Arenal Volcano National Park (B / D)
Breakfast at the hotel and morning at leisure to observe the volcanic activity or to enjoy one of the many activities feature at this popular destination in Costa Rica.
Pick up at the lobby of the hotel for the Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs Tour.
Arenal Volcano & Hot Sprimgs: The classically conical shape of Arenal Volcano dominates the rolling plains of Arenal, emitting occasional puffs of smoke as it bursts into thunderous eruption. This tour departs early afternoon, to enjoy the lushness of the surrounding scenery and the majestic form of Arenal Volcano by the light of day. We will, however, try to observe, conditions permitting, the Arenal's impressive eruptions at night, when the lava streams and incandescent rock explosions resemble an unforgettable fireworks display.
DAY 08 - Fortuna & Arenal Volcano National Park (B)
Breakfast is included at your hotel. The following days will be at leisure for you to enjoy your hotel facilities, visit Tamarindo and other neighbored beaches, and take time to relax or book any optional activities. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Canyoning Tour: Your trip begins with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rainforest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. You trek through the forest on magical trails that lead to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Costa Rica, a place very few people get to experience. Along the way you will have the chance to discover the secrets that lie hidden deep within the canyon. From the first waterfall you will rappel down from the top into the beautiful and pristine canyon below. There are 5 rappels, 4 of which are along side or right in waterfalls, and one dry rock face. Then a short trek out of the canyon on a magical trail, jump back in the 4x4 vehicles and head back to the base camp. Minimum age: 6 years old accompanied by a guide. After 12 years (100 pounds) they can do the tour along.
My Cheese Tour: Do you want to learn how to milk a cow? What a chapulín is? How to make cheese? You can do it now at Don Carlos Farm. This is a new option for tourists who want to know the culture and way of living of Costa Rican cowboy. Within a property that has 70 hectares, and are surrounded by lakes, gardens, secondary forests, rivers, tubers and fruits plantations and, of course, the pastures there are more than 400 cows that are available so visitors can learn in an interactive way how a farm works. Don Carlos Farm has a milking parlour, the orchard, an area for the utilization of organic fertilizes, the dairy farm, the stables, and the cheese plant. During the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the farm and nature. Besides, visitors will milk a cow, feed the calves, likewise they will know about medicinal plants, spices, tubers, vegetables and fruit trees, all of them from the zone, and will make their own cheese. After lunch participants will enjoy a delicious lunch, and will have the opportunity to try the cheese they just made.
DAY 9 - North Pacific Coast (B / All-Inclusive)
Ground transfer from Arenal to North Pacific Coast.
DAY 10 - 13 - North Pacific Coast (All-Inclusive)
Days at leisure to enjoy resort facilities or taking optional tours
DAY 14 - Back to San Jose (B)
Ground transfer from Barceló Langosta Beach back to San Jose with stop en route at Sarchí town.
Wood Tour: This is a medium-sized family hundreds of products made from woods such as cocobolo, bark and Nazareth. The tour is a tour of the factory where you can see how the smallest piece of wood used to build a necklace, an earring or a decoration. The culmination of the tour is a small store that allows visitors to buy souvenirs to take family and friends.
