Welcome to Costa Rica

Escape in Paradise

This area offers a variety of landscapes; palm lined beaches, islands, gulfs, headlands, swamps, and peninsulas and it is divided into two major zones. To the southwest lies the Osa Peninsula where the Osa Conservation Area protects perhaps the most extensive and richest variety of flora and fauna to be found in the country. To the southeast is the Golfo Dulce a blue water bay with the historic city of Golfito, better known today for its duty free shopping.

Many of the country’s protected zones are located in this region and some of them are Corcovado National Park, one of the most famous areas of biological diversity and conservation in the world; Caño Island, an archeological site with virgin white sand beaches and crystal clear water ideal for diving and snorkeling; Isla Ballena National Marine Park, seasonal migration point for the Humpback Whale; Golfo Dulce Forest reserve home of an incredible variety of wildlife and birds; and Golfito National Wildlife Refuge with an impressive primary evergreen forest with over 125 species of trees.

The accommodation in this area is offered in exclusive lodges immersed in virgin rainforests, often a stone’s throw away from the beach. Close encounters with the many forest dwellers are normal.

Costa Rica’s South Pacific region is best known for its immense biological diversity including pristine waters and virgin primary forests; it is the ideal place for anyone who wants to observe whales and dolphins, practice activities such as surfing, horseback riding, hiking, wildlife observation, nature photography, boat tours, diving, snorkeling, fishing and kayaking.

The Osa Peninsula offers spectacular views and dozens of exotic beaches like Dominical and Puerto Jimenez, ideal locations for swimming, fishing and bird watching, these are also popular places to practice surfing because of the great waves and the active nightlife.
