This 7 day fly & drive package takes you to the magical inland around Turrialba and Caribbean Coast before leading towards the lush tropical area of inland Sarapiqui. Ideal for nature lovers, as you will visit different natural life zones and get an insight into Costa Rica´s famous biodiversity. Well planed routes and convenient route descriptions, make sure you find your way around without missing out on mayor attractions along your way.
This program can be booked by itself or in combination with one of the other fly  & drive programs to other destinations within Costa Rica. By doing so, you can extend the itinerary to 11 days or 15 days fly & drive programs.

The packages are designed to enjoy and explore each area without any rush or extensive driving hours. The 4x4 vehicle adds safety and convenience to your vacation. You may choose between two different hotels and rental car categories, according to your preferences.

Day 1   Welcome to Costa Rica !

  • Arrival at the international Airport , Juan Santamaria in San José. A friendly CRT-Team Staff member will pick you up at the airport. While transferring to your hotel in San José, all travel documents will be handed to you.

Day 2   San José -  Turrialba Area

  • After breakfast the rental car will be delivered to your hotel. Now you are ready to start your route towards the City of Cartago and the Irazú Volcano National Park. Irazú Volcano is a 3400 meters high giant, dominating the rural landscape and villages. The sleeping craters provide breathtaking views and images.  Later your route will take you through hills with lush vegetation and tropical agriculture, such as sugar cane and coffee. The small town of Turrialba is todays final destination and your hotel is situated just outside of Turrialba.

Day 3  Turrialba - Caribbean Coast (Puerto Viejo)

  • Leaving Turrialba behind you will be on your way through rolling hills with lush green vegetation towards the low lands of the Atlanic. Pineapple and Banana plantations border the road. Further along the Caribbean Coast is dominated by palm trees and sandy natural beaches. Your hotel is situated just outside the small city of Puerto Viejo.

Day 4   Cahuita National Park 
Enjoy the afro caribbean taste at the local Restaurants / Disfrute del sabor afrocaribeño en los restaurantes locales
  • Cahuita National Park; with it's warm waters and sandy beach invites you to a stunning snorkling experience. Other beaches throughout the area provide endless options for walks on the beach or a relaxing sunbath.  Cacao plantations, indigenous villages and thick tropical vegetation are just a few of the areas attractions.

Day 5   Caribbean Coast - Sarapiquí Area
Chocolate Tour at Tirimbina (Sarapiquí´s Area) / Tour de Chocolate en Tirimbina, Sarapiquí
  • Today your route will take you back into the heart land of Costa Rica an area filled with tropical agriculture and a large variety of plants and wildlife. Sarapiqui is home to many scientific projects and conservation areas. Plenty of rivers and canals are caracteristic on the region . Your hotel is surrounded by exotic gardens for you to enjoy nature at it's best.

Day 6  Sarapiquí Area - San José

  • Should this day be the last day of your fly & drive program, you will be heading back towards San José. The route towards the Central Valley takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of Braulio Carillo National Park. Along the road thick vegetation and mountain ranges provide plenty of beautiful images.
  • In case you have chosen an additional Fly & Drive Program you will go on towards your next encounter with Costa Rica's natural variety of nature and wildlife.

Day  7  Hasta pronto Costa Rica !!
  • For international flights you should be at the airport three hours before departure. According to your flight schedule you might have some time to walk around the pedestrian zones of San José or  visit a museum.  
  • CRT Team Staff will pick you up for your transfer to the airport to see you off for a safe journey home. You will take home, lots of unforgettable impressions and delightful memories.
