Itinerary

Sarapiquí has 3 districts, La Virgen, Horquetas & Puerto Viejo; it is the biggest Sarapiquí's canton with 692.94 km2. The climate is moderate with an average temperature of 24º & 25ºC. Sarapiquí produces coffee, corn, cacao, cardamom, banana, dwarf fan palm and fruits, although since various years the protections of forests has grow up very fast, including the creation of other protected zones like Braulio Carrillo National Park, Sarapiquí Protected zone, La Selva Biological stations and the new Neotrópico Sarapiquí Center of which offers an Archaeology park, museum and a Botanical garden plus other interest attractions.

Doka Estate Coffee Tour
Day 01  San José – Sarapiquí
Gold Museum at the San José City Tour
  • Pick up for the tour to Doka Estate Coffee Farm and the Gold Museum in downtown San José. Then continue the route to the Sarapiqui plains.
  • Doka Estate Coffee Tour: Costa Rica has one of the widest ranges of microclimates, due to the drastic change in altitude and climate over relatively short distances. This explains the excellent flavor of the coffee as the final product.

  • Pre-Columbian Gold Museum: The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum has an extraordinary collection of gold objects that reflect the world view, social structure and gold-working techniques of the Pre-Columbian peoples of Costa Rica.

  • Lunch at Doka Estate. Dinner at the hotel.
  • Accommodation at Sarapiquí Rainforest Lodge (or similar).

Day 2  Sarapiquí Area
Enjoy the Chocolate Tour at Tirimbina / Disfrute del Tour de Chocolate en Tirimbina
  • Breakfast. Day in Sarapiqui to enjoy the following programmed activities:
  • Pineapple Tour at Finca Corsicana: Participants will visit a Pineapple mill where the guide will take you to the active operating Corsicana pineapple farm for a very interesting talk about the history and cultivation.
  • Chocolate Tour… The sweetest experience: In this activity you will discover the marvels of one of the favorite foods of humankind - chocolate. The tour includes a guided hike across the Tirimbina suspension bridge to a cacao plantation.
  • Museum for Indigenous Cultures: It is the largest on-site museum of rainforest ecology and indigenous and pre hispanic history in Central America.
  • Lunch at Tirimbina Reserve. Dinner at the hotel.
  • Accommodation at Sarapiquí Rainforest Lodge (or similar).
