Tortuguero is the most important nesting site in the entire western half of the Caribbean for the green Turtle. The leatherback and hawksbill also nest along these beaches. Seven species of land turtles, the manatee or the sea cow and the crocodile are also found in this region.

IMPORTANT: Participants must pack a couple nights overnight bag for the tour to Tortuguero, as they will be unable to take the bulk of luggage due to a 25lb baggage restriction on the boat. Please leave the extra luggage at the hotel, on their storage room for the return

	06:00 am Early morning pick up at your hotel, then ground and boat transfer (breakfast) 11:00 am Boat through the canals to Tortuguero National Park (approx. 3 hours) 01:00 pm Arrival to the lodge, lunch, followed by a visit to Tortuguero Town and to the Caribbean Conservation Corporation Museum (Entrance fee not included $1.00 per person) Rest of time at leisure for other activities. Optional Turtle Night Tour is also available with the hotel: The nesting of Sea Turtles is one of natures amazing spectacles. Green Turtles nest along the beaches of Tortuguero National Park from July to October. The others have different seasons! Accommodation at hotel in Tortuguero.

	08:00 am Breakfast at the lodge 09:00 am Hiking tour to Tortuguero Hill: Excellent birding and wildlife watching, besides great views! Return for lunch.
